This post is for the busty girls who have difficulty finding bras their size

The first time I tried on a bra was in 2007. I was 11 years old and my family and I were on vacation in the U.S. We were staying in my uncle’s big ass house in Dallas and we were having a really nice time. So, my siblings, my mum and I were at a clothing store and we passed by racks and racks of underwear. Normally, I would not really care as much about it but at this moment, I really wanted to wear a bra.

I was already in boarding school at the time and so, I lived with a whole bunch of girls in different classes and of different ages. Looking back now, 11 was probably the right time to start wearing a bra but going through puberty and seeing a lot of girls wear bras, I always thought I was behind. So, when we saw a bra that could fit me perfectly, I told my mum that I really wanted to buy it and I honestly thought she would say ‘no’ but she agreed. So, we bought it and when we got home, I tried it on and it fit perfectly and I felt happy that I had finally gotten to this stage of my life. The size of that bra was a 32A.

After this time, every summer my bra size increased which I thought was understandable because I was at a transitional time in my life obviously and so, I was growing and it was normal that my breasts will grow as well but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I will be what you refer to as a busty girl.

My breasts always seemed like a normal size to me. In fact, if I could be perfectly honest, I thought that I had a bigger bum than I had boobs and this will probably be an ‘asset’ for me. Fast forward to 10 years later and the reverse is the case. I have a normal sized bum but my breasts are huge.

I think the moment I realised that I was becoming a busty girl was during my A’Levels. At the time, I was already wearing a 36C. It is important to note though that I had never gotten a bra fitting. I was just going off of intuition and whichever one seemed to size me at the moment. Then by the time I was halfway through my first year of uni, I was wearing a 34DD which I thought was the highest I was going to go and I kept wearing it for a while. However, even then, sometimes I would be wearing a bra of that size and I will bend down to pick up something and my breasts will be pouring out of my bra and I will have to re-adjust it when I came up. The thing is though that I am nonchalant about a lot of things and so I just kept on convincing myself that I was wearing the right size. My mum hated it though. It wasn’t so much the bra size that was a problem for her. It was just the way it looked in my clothes and she was always complaining about it.

Last year though, enough was enough for her and she told me that I had to get a bra fitting. So, I booked an appointment in M&S as they offer a free bra fitting service and I went there to get the fitting. At this point, I already knew that I will probably get a bigger size because the bras already started to seem small so I thought, I will probably get an E cup. Boy, was I wrong!

First of all, when I took off my shirt for the lady to measure me. She looked at the bra I was wearing and she was like, ‘That is a small bra’. All I could do was smile and I told her that I hadn’t gotten a fitting before. So, she measured me and then she went to get 34 E & F cup bras for me to wear. Those bras were still too small. Next thing I know this woman is talking about 34 G, GG, H and even I cup bras and when I am telling you that my mouth dropped. Lol. I mean, I knew I had boobs but not like that. She even had someone else come in to give a second opinion and eventually they settled on 34GG and to be honest the bras felt really comfortable. The only thing the lady said was that bras my size may not be as cute as bras of lower sizes and as someone who loves to wear cute bras for less, I pouted just a little.

Since then though, it has been really hard to find bras my size. I have only been able to buy at M&S because they have it but now I have to pay over £15 for a bra which is good because the quality is good but as someone who could buy bras for £5 from New Look, Asda and basically everywhere else, it was frustrating because those places do not sell my size.

Don’t get me wrong. I like my body. I like how proportionate it is. Okay, maybe I could have a flatter belly (Lol) but I am okay with how my body is and of course, I love my boobs. However, it is kind of frustrating that a lot of places do not carry bras for busty women like myself and I honestly believe that if a store is going to be selling underwear then please, try to cater to every cup size. At first, when my boobs were not as big, I didn’t really think about the fact that these stores didn’t have bigger sizes because it was not affecting me. Now, though it is and I feel bad that it had to affect me first before I realised. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad about it. It just sucks that I can’t go to the stores where I used to go to before to buy bras.

However though, I did my research and also in talking to some friends, there are some amazing places where they sell nice bras for busty women. I’ll list some of the ones I found.

  1. Bravissimo – https://www.bravissimo.comBravissimo is amazing because they cater to busty girls. They sell bras ranging from cups D-L. The cheapest bra I could see is £24 which is not as cheap but the good thing about it which I have come to see is that it is an investment. Buying a good quality bra that will last you is a favour that you can do yourself and for someone like me that is a cheap skate (Lol), I have come to see it this way.
  2. Fig leaves – http://www.figleaves.com/uk/: Fig leaves is great as well as they have bras ranging from cups C-JJ. Their prices are also in the £20 range but they are having a sale now so you could get a bra for as low as £10. As I mentioned above, a good quality bra is an investment so if you are having difficulty finding a bra your size, try them.
  3. Marks and Spencer – http://www.marksandspencer.com: M&S, as I have mentioned earlier is wonderful because they sell bras ranging from cups A-K. You can find a good bra for £15 and upwards and their bras are of really good quality.

There are a lot more but these are just a few that I thought I’d share. So, I just thought I’d share this little struggle that I have as I know that there are a lot of people that probably feel the way I do. I hope this helps and I would keep on looking for oree and if you know any, please let me know. Us, busty girls have to stick together, y’know. Lol

So much love,

From the desk of a Busty Girl.
